China Harbour wins THB7bn Laem Chabang Port contract MAY 30, 2024
China Harbour Engineering Co Ltd (CHEC) has won the infrastructure contract for phase 3 development of Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi province, the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) announced on Wednesday.
PAT director-general Kriengkrai Chaisiriwongsuk said the Chinese company’s contract bid was 160 million baht lower than the project’s estimate of 7.38 billion baht (about US$200 million) to construct infrastructure, buildings, docks, roads and other facilities.
Myanmar strife spurs Ranong Port uptick 17 July 2024
An increase in activity at Ranong Port because of Myanmar's move towards shipping export goods instead of using land routes due to its civil war will benefit the government's Land Bridge project, said Deputy Transport Minister Manaporn Charoensri.
Ms Manaporn said the ongoing war in Myanmar is resulting in its cross-border trade with Thailand being halted.
As a result, entrepreneurs are now shipping their cargoes to Thailand by barge through Ranong Port instead of by truck through the land border in Tak's Mae Sot district, she said.

Kerry Siam Seaport Limited (“KSSP”), a multi-purpose deep sea port in Laem Chabang, Thailand, today announced benchmark operational improvements achieved through an optimization program conducted in partnership with Kaleris, a leading provider of supply chain technology solutions including Navis Terminal Operating Systems. The program optimized the Navis N4 Terminal Operating System to reduce truck driving distances by 20 percent and container rehandles by 10 percent, significantly improving productivity and lowering carbon emissions.
PPA pipelines P16 billion investments for priority infrastructure projects 10 July 2024
The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) plans to invest up to P16 billion in 14 major infrastructure projects by 2028 to enhance inter-island transport. Annually, the PPA allocates P3.5 to P4 billion for these projects, which include expansions and improvements across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.In Mindanao, plans include a cargo port in Dapa, upgrading the cargo berth in Davao City's Port of Sasa, and expanding the Port of Plaridel.
Adani plans to build port in Vietnam to tap trade opportunities 14 July 2024
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone plans to build a port in Da Nang, Vietnam, after receiving initial approval from the Vietnamese government. This greenfield project, still in the early planning stages, will include container terminals and multipurpose berths.
The initiative aligns with Adani's strategy to expand infrastructure overseas and enhance India's position as a maritime hub. The company aims to increase its international trade volume share from 5% to 10% by 2030, focusing on regions with high manufacturing or population growth.
